Strangers living in a foreign country (1 Peter 2: 11)

It’s a danger noted in the diplomatic service that diplomats who serve too long in a foreign country can ‘go native’. They over-identify with their foreign host – and so under-identify with their own nation/government , from whom they gain their authority (1 Peter 2: 11; 2 Cor 5: 20). The ‘institutional churches’ have done precisely the same. Out with the blood of Christ, in with ‘climate justice’.

By comparison with the institutional church’s new gospel of climate change, this Christian piece is quite a balanced evaluation: https://villagehope.uk/cop26-is-there-any-word-from-the-lord/

Let’s remember to pray for Village Hope which seeks to bring gospel to rural areas. Whilst we pray, let’s avoid this: https://www.london.anglican.org/articles/gaia-comes-to-holland-park-and-notting-hill-churches/

The institutional churches may now identify with Gaia, but let the rest of us remember we are ambassadors of a foreign land (2 Corinthians 5: 20). Let’s try not to go native!
