When Christians Disagree
We don’t normally advertise events, but thought this may interest our readers, especially as its free! Foundations Conferences aim to help Christians reconnect with our true foundation – Jesus. Too much ‘churchianity’ has obscured ancient truths. Jesus told us to build on rock. But too often we build on sand!
26 to 30 October …..
Sadly, Christians do from time to time fall out – sometimes big time! We have only to think of past schisms to see the spiritual trail of desolation that can be left behind. How do we recognize incipient disagreement? How do we cope with false teaching? Can we deal with these things in a ‘Christian’ manner? And how do we finally deal with apostasy?
Foundations Conferences engage both head and heart. They represent a genuinely fresh, and yet biblical, approach.
New and Old Wineskins …..
Foundations 14 (F-14) is to be hosted via Zoom BUT THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER ZOOM (yawn!) EVENT! It aims to be spiritually interactive. We get out what we put in.
F-14 represents a new paradigm in Christian conferences. Rather than being JUST ANOTHER ZOOM conference it is a brand new model that COULD ONLY WORK IN ZOOM . Even if a physical conference centre was available, it would not work with F14.
Rather than fitting an existing model (old wineskins) into ZOOM, this new model (new wineskins) has been created specifically for a ZOOM environment. If you want to attend this FREE event then you need to apply via steve@saltshakers.com (Further details below).
Not as elsewhere …..
This is certainly NOT a ZOOM conference as you have seen elsewhere. All you have experienced up to now is a physical conference streamed to your device, with perhaps a bit of interactivity thrown in for variety! Few are now prepared to put up with hours sitting in front of their screen hearing people preach without the advantage, at least, of being in the same room as them! If you’re Zoomed-out, then be reassured …..
- No teaching slot will be longer than 10 minutes, allowing for single teaching points to be expressed and examined
- There is full interaction – questions, comments and testimonies –at all times
- There is NO SCHEDULE – the whole conference will be directed through leading from the Holy Spirit
- The purpose of the conference is not just to feed minds, but particularly to impact hearts, so that we can be empowered for acts of service in a World that desperately needs an effective Church!
- Monday and Tuesday will be led through facilitators, not teachers, allowing maximum flexibility. In turn the facilitators will be guided by the team, making it a group effort
- Most content will be pre-prepared but not necessarily used –following the Morecambe-Previn principle (“All the right notes … but not necessarily in the right order”)
- Some content/testimonies will be fresh and unexpected, as the Holy Spirit blows where He wishes!
- All content providers are trusted Foundations Bible teachers and the Bible is central to everything that happens
- There will be breaks for reflection, prayer, praise & adoration –all directed by the wonderful Holy Spirit
- The purpose of this format is for all of us (including our team) to go on an individual journey. It will be different for all of us. Some may wish to interact fully, others may wish to remain anonymous.
- Wednesday is a free day –no teaching –provision will be made for worshipping God or private meetings to discuss and to pray and to deal with issues
- There will be optional workshops on Wednesday (and Thursday)
- The programme on Thursday will unfold totally dependent on the needs of the delegates as perceived by the team
- On Friday we will celebrate and rejoice over the breakthroughs that there will have been.
