Gaia and Science – You read it here first …..

Some “scientists” want to link evolutionary theory with the concept of Gaia, that old New Age religion

New Ways to Worship?

New ways to worship the world? Animism is a ‘belief system’ that worships the physical world. Some “Darwinists” (including Dawkinists) want to link Darwinistic evolutionary theory to the so-called new age religion of Gaia. Will they succeed? And does anyone care?

The Christian understanding remains as expressed in Genesis 1: 1. “ In the beginning God created …” Genesis 1 is not a scientific treaties, nor does it tell us why God created, although some Christian philosophers have explored possible concepts (unhelpfully, I suggest, but then I’m no fan of philosophy, Christian or otherwise).

Ironic, isn’t it, that the images for this religion of Gaia is always of a woman whose a bit of a looker in the world’s terms (see image above)! There’s no room in Gaia art for a woman who has a figure other than hourglass, who does not have buck teeth, one leg shorter than the other an imperfect complexion! Perhaps this Gaia is, after all, not representative of the many and ordinaire, but only the elite few.

Notice the rainbow motif in the illustration above. We’ve already thought about the rainbow: https://christiancomment.org/2020/07/31/rainbow/

In the beginning

For the secularist, the one and only mission is to sever existence itself from a God to Whom we are accountable. Secularism, surely, is itself a religion. When someone tells me they believe in evolution, I often ask them which evolutionary theory they actually believe. At that point the conversation generally stops – to my secret relief! I’m frankly uninterested in peoples “theory” of how and why. I’m quite relaxed about the Bible’s clear statement that God created (in the beginning) and from there I work out the implications both for myself and for Mankind, the true pinnacle of God’s created order and assuredly the ultimate reason why.

Stand by for more religio-science mumbo jumbo in the years ahead. The secularist can spend an entire lifetime inventing reasons to “explain” why not God, but at the end of the day (at the end of their life) the Biblical verdict still stands: For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse (Romans 1:20).

That is a truth that simply will not go away.
