Hamas

The Hebrew word in Genesis 6: 11 and 13 translated as violence is, in English, ‘ha-mas’. (see Strongs H2555). Corruption and violence are given as the reasons why God destroyed the earth at the time of the flood judgement. “Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence (ha-mas). God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people of the earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence (ha-mas) because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.” Genesis 6: 11 – 13.

Derivation of the word can be explored here: https://www.jewishchronicle.org/2008/03/31/hamas-is-a-curious-word-with-significant-meanings/

Symbols

God sometimes causes men to adopt symbols to help those who are vigilant to understand. The classic case is the adoption of the woman riding a bull as the symbol of Europe. It appeared in statues, coins, bank notes, magazine covers and other places. To the creators of the image, it represented the Greek myth about the abduction of Europa by Zeus. To the vigilant Christian it was the harlot riding the beast as described in Revelation. Europe, by adopting the symbol of ‘Mystery Babylon’, revealed its true nature.

Following the barbaric atrocities carried out by Hamas on the 7th October we may well ask if the name Hamas is significant. I believe that it is.

The injustice against the Israel and the Jews has angered God. Just as Hamas was the cause of God’s anger against the earth in the days of Noah, so Hamas is bringing God’s wrath down on a violent and rebellious world.

Mindless support

It is not only the actions of the Hamas terrorists on the 7th October which have aroused God’s anger. It is also the mindless support for Hamas and the Palestinian cause. In major cities around the world there have been large demonstrations in support of the Palestinians. It is reported that 100,000 turned out in London on the 21st October. These demonstrations are characterized by hate for Israel and the Jews.

The atrocities committed on 7th October were similar or even worse than those committed by ISIS. Did thousands turn out on the streets of London or other cities in support of ISIS? Of course not. The world recognized that ISIS was evil and needed to be destroyed. But when the victim is Israel and the Jews, it is another matter altogether. The BBC cannot even bring itself to condemn the murderers as ‘terrorists’. It had no problem using that label for ISIS.

World leaders are no better. Many have flocked to Israel following the attack. They have pledged their support while simultaneously heaping on Israel conditions which hinder their actions and endanger their troops. Jews in many countries now live in increased fear of violence.

Hamas has spread around the world. The world is filled with violence. The barbarity of Hamas and the violence of those who support it, is a warning that the time is drawing near when God will pour out His wrath on the earth. He will release the evil that has been stored up for this time.

For a while now I have sensed that we are on the brink of five events which will precede the return of Christ. Everything around the horrific attack on Israel has confirmed to me that the time is near:

Christian Comment – Palestinian flag – symbolism

Needless to say there are various ‘interpretations’ of what the flag means. The most common understanding concerning the origin of the flag entails that the colors were chosen by the Arab nationalist ‘Literary Club’ in Istanbul in 1909, based on the words of the thirteenth century Arab poet Safi a-Din al-Hili. White are our deeds, black are our battles, Green are our fields, red are our swords.

Green and black are, in any case, strongly Islamic colours. In the Quran, green is associated with paradise, the destination of all those Moslems who die in Jihad. Green was adopted by the Shi’ites, and remains particularly popular in Shi’ite iconography. But it is also widely used in by Sunni states, notably in the flag of Saudi Arabia and of Pakistan.

The Black Flag means the army or soldier will take no quarter. This means they fight to the death and take no surrender; they reject any peaceful end other than the complete and total desolation of their enemy. The Black Flag means kill or be killed.
