# 7 – the Bloodhound.
Spiritual insight …… determinedly applied. Dan Holland explores …..
Chase – and drive them out
Bloodhound sniffs out ten demons behind every bush! He discerns wounds and bondages everywhere, ever suspicious that some are still eluding him. He is never more fulfilled than when he is chasing them down and driving the trespassers out! This is his focus, and he loses interest if there is no chase.
Bloodhound gets hardly any rest. Even at night multiple ‘warning’ dreams fill his sleep. He knows for certain that the devil is very active at the moment. He keeps telling pastor Ostrich that the church needs to have a ‘deliverance’ weekend to get ‘cleaned out’. When Ghost vanished from the church Bloodhound was convinced something demonic was happening.
Bloodhound has dusted off his Frank Peretti novels and re-read the whole series. He’s convinced that ‘This present darkness’ is the one for pastor Ostrich to take to heart. To his chagrin pastor Ostrich shows complete indifference to his proffered books. Ostrich’s countenance seems to suggest he has enough to deal with in the natural whelm without delving into the ‘spiritual realm’ as Bloodhound insists. Ostrich no longer makes even the pretence of taking Bloodhound’s books.
Keep looking
Bloodhound has a lot to occupy him elsewhere. He discerns the church building project has become a focus for powers and principalities, and they are encamped around it rather like the ancient tower of Babel. A similar confusion is beguiling the congregation. As Bloodhound predicts, if something isn’t done rapidly the people will scatter far away. It’s so hard for him, as no-one else seems to share his urgency and most often respond to him with wary indifference, if not anger.
Bloodhound has attempted to convince Owl to advocate for him with Ostrich, but she is opaque. All she said was ‘we need to calm things down not hype them up.’
Isolated
Bloodhound has discerned that Rhino is connected with spirits of fear and intimidation, also that Ostrich has succumbed to these spirits. Although he is certainly not all wrong, Bloodhound finds that, once again, he is isolated by his discernment and spiritual insight. He longs for friendship and someone who would understand and support him in what he sees and senses so clearly. For now, however, he goes to his prayer closet alone and pours out all his concerns to His Father. He can’t bear to see another church split.
